2024 Vitiligo Awards Open for submissions

This post is sponsored by Incyte.

Now open—an opportunity to recognize and support innovators in the vitiligo community. Whether you know someone making an innovative impact for vitiligo, or have an organization looking to create an innovative resource for the vitiligo community, this breaking news is for you.

Incyte’s third-annual Incyte Ingenuity Awards (IIA) in Vitiligo are back, and this year, the program is joined by Incyte’s new award, the Vitiligo Innovators Program™ (VIP). While IIA funds thoughtful, creative and original programs and resources that address specific needs of people with vitiligo, VIP recognizes individuals who have dedicated themselves to having a positive impact on people living with vitiligo.

Here’s your guide to these two awards programs.

IIA in Vitiligo

Now in its third year, IIA in Vitiligo funds thoughtful, creative and original programs and resources that address specific needs of people with vitiligo. Incyte is committed to creating and fostering community-focused programs dedicated to improving the lives of patients, including people with vitiligo, a chronic immune-mediated condition that can have a profound impact.

Here’s what you need to know about this award program.

What type of programs does IIA seek to fund?

IIA seeks to fund initiatives that are impactful, creative, original and seek to make a positive impact for the vitiligo community. This can be done by addressing a significant need or enhancing the lived experience for people with vitiligo (i.e., community-based programs, advancement in technology to support people living with vitiligo, educational programs and resources). Selected initiatives must be completed within one year and address a specific need for people affected by vitiligo, including patients, their healthcare providers or caregivers.

What is the funding for the award?

IIA in Vitiligo funds two novel initiatives, awarding up to $35,000 and $100,000, respectively, to support projects of different scales.

What does the application process entail?

The program consists of a streamlined application process, starting with a letter of intent and followed by a more detailed application form in round two. The letter of intent lives online and is downloadable. Both rounds are reviewed by the IIA independent judging panel, made of dermatologists, PA/NPs and other vitiligo patient advocates.

Who is eligible to apply?

Incyte welcomes submissions from non-profit 501(c)(3), patient, policy and caregiver organizations, healthcare providers and mid-level/junior faculty from healthcare organizations for the Incyte Ingenuity Awards in Vitiligo. Individuals or other companies interested may apply by partnering with either a non-profit organization or a healthcare facility (i.e., hospitals, academic research centers, etc.) to be eligible. The applicant must be U.S. based (includes Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico).

Can I submit multiple applications?

Yes, however while multiple applications may be submitted by an eligible applicant, only one application can be selected for the award per applicant.

How do I apply?

If you’d like to apply, visit https://www.incyteingenuityawards.com/ and submit an application by October 31, 2024.

VIP

Incyte is launching VIP, which recognizes individuals who have dedicated themselves to having a positive impact on people living with vitiligo. VIP was created to foster positive contributions for the vitiligo community and seeks to honor patients, caregivers, advocates, researchers, medical students, residents and/or healthcare providers for their extraordinary efforts to bring understanding, compassion and strength to the vitiligo community.

Here’s what you need to know about this award program.

What type of individuals does VIP seek to recognize?

VIP will recognize up to three individual recipients, one per category:

  • Healthcare innovator: Healthcare professional (i.e., nurse, PA, physician) who provides extraordinary care and/or education for people with vitiligo.
  • Rising innovator: Promising resident, medical student or researcher who focuses on advancing research in vitiligo.
  • Community innovator: An advocate or non-medical individual who has made a significant positive impact in supporting, or caring for, people with vitiligo.

What type of recognition is provided for recipients?

Recipients in each category will receive a physical award recognizing their dedication to individual care. Recognition of recipients will also be announced the following June at the annual World Vitiligo Day (WVD)-USA Conference.

What is the nomination process like?

Nominations will be submitted online. Nominations will be reviewed and recipients will be selected by a judging panel made up of dermatologists, PA/NPs and vitiligo patient advocates. Those receiving recognition, and those who submitted applications on behalf of other individuals, will need to consent to having their pictures, names, affiliation, and nomination details to be publicly available through promotional materials.

Who is eligible to be nominated?

VIP is open to U.S.-based (includes Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico) applicants. Individuals must be nominated by someone else, must be aware of the nomination and may only be nominated for one category.

How do I nominate someone?

If you’d like to nominate an individual for VIP, visit vitiligoinnovatorsprogram.com and submit a nomination by October 31, 2024.
