We Asked Our Community Which Products They Actually Use—Here’s Where to Shop Them
Have you ever tried a sunscreen or foundation, only to find out you don’t love it? Maybe the foundation looked good in the store, but turned orange in the daylight. Or perhaps the sunscreen was too greasy to realistically wear everyday without feeling wet. You end up wasting your time and money and are still in need of a product that you love.
Finding the right beauty and skincare products can be difficult for anyone. When you live with vitiligo, it can feel even more difficult: you’re living with two shades of skin and spots that can burn more quickly in the sun. You might be risking a sunburn. You might also be risking the confidence you need to feel good in your skin.
We know the frustration that can build up as you search for the beauty and skincare that can work for you. And it’s exactly why we built a Community Shop based on the products the women in our community found that they love and use.

Why we built the Community Picks shop
The best advice for vitiligo comes from the people living with it. We’ve always believed that, and it’s why this community exists today. So when someone finds a sunscreen she actually wants to wear every day, or a camouflage that makes her feel like herself again, that knowledge shouldn’t be tucked away in a cosmetics bag—it should be shared.
Community Picks is our new shop of community-recommended products across sun protection, makeup and coverage, self-tanners, and sun-protective clothing. Real recommendations from real women with vitiligo who use these products day to day.
How we built the Community Picks shop
How do you build a Community Picks shop? With vetted products that people keep coming back to.
Community Picks was built from 145 responses from women with vitiligo, sourced from two beauty and skin surveys that we’ve hosted in recent years. The survey asked our community to share their favorite products across four categories. We didn’t just want to know which products existed, but the ones that you’d hand to a friend who is newly diagnosed or tired of guessing what works.
We analyzed the responses and pulled the most common answers for each category together. We shared the list with our resident dermatologist, Dr. Heather Woolery-Lloyd, to ensure these recommendations are medically reviewed, too.
What you’ll find inside the Community Picks shop
The shop is organized into four sections, so you can go straight to what you need.
Sun Protection. The everyday SPF our community actually wears, from lightweight face formulas like EltaMD UV Clear and Supergoop! Unseen to easy-to-apply body sprays and lotions like those from Neutrogena, Sun Bum, and La Roche-Posay. If you know you should wear sunscreen but can’t stand the feeling, this is your place to start.
Makeup & Coverage. Three groups: everyday top picks, products made specifically for vitiligo (like Dermablend Leg and Body, Vitiligo Vanquish, and Microskin), and foundations with shade ranges that work for universal vitiligo. Whether you cover fully, blend a little, or just even out one area, there’s an option for you here.
Self-Tanners. For women who choose to cover and camouflage, this includes the mousses and foams our community rebuys, like St. Tropez, Bondi Sands, and Tanologist.
Sun-Protective Clothing. UPF shirts, wraps, hats, and swimwear from brands like Coolibar, Mott 50, and Solbari, for the days when sunscreen alone isn’t practical.
To help guide you through the shop, each section also links to additional reading, like what to know about covering and camouflaging or how to choose a sunscreen, so you can shop with context.
In the spirit of transparency: Some links in the shop are affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We only include products our dermatologist partners review or that our community told us they use.
It’s your turn to shop our Community Picks
Community Picks is advice from a room full of women like you who’ve already done the testing. So now it’s your turn. Shop our Community Picks to find the next addition to your skincare line up with confidence, rather than a headache.
