Everyone living with vitiligo deserves to feel supported—and that includes the littlest of those living with the condition and their families.

This year, the Global Vitiligo Foundation, a non-profit international organization dedicated to vitiligo advocacy, is launching Camp Victory, a new two-day summer program for children with vitiligo (and of course a parent or guardian, too). Taking place June 19-20, 2024 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the event precedes the World Vitiligo Day USA 2024 Conference and is the first children’s camp associated with the annual event.

Here’s what you need to know about this new camp—and how to register.

What is Camp Victory?

Designed to bring support and empowerment to children with vitiligo and their families, Camp Victory will host a group of children ages 5 to 15 (and their caregivers) for a special event designed just for kids with vitiligo. The event will take place over two days in June—June 19 and 20—and include social and educational events designed to meet the challenges of living with vitiligo and celebrating the families attending.

The event will take place at the Marriott Indianapolis North in Indianapolis, Indiana. Registration is required, but Camp Victory is free for all selected participants. In addition, to help cover expenses of attendees, the program covers a two-night stay at the Marriott Indianapolis North and includes up to $500 reimbursement per person for economy airfare or ground transportation.

What can you expect at Camp Victory?

Camp Victory will blend educational programming with compassionate counseling from experts. The two-day program starts on Wednesday evening with a “slumber party” complete with dinner, games and prizes—plus time for parents to mix and mingle. The Thursday program will kick off with breakfast followed by morning programming (still in the works!). Afternoon programming features sessions for parents/caregivers and kids to meet with counselors separately as well as together. The camp ends with dinner and entertainment featuring karaoke, a bounce house, magician and more.

There will be plenty of fun activities mixed in, with the goal of making Camp Victory a space where children and families can not only find understanding and empathy but build community, too.

Take a sneak peak at the schedule here:

Wednesday, June 19th

  • 12 PM Registration Opens (we hear lunch is included!)
  • 6-9 PM Slumber Party

Thursday, June 20th

  • 7 AM Breakfast
  • 9-12 PM Tour
  • 12 PM Lunch
  • 1 PM Psychologist Sessions
  • 5 PM Dinner and Evening Entertainment

Who can attend Camp Victory?

The best part? Camp Victory is complimentary for selected attendees (children ages 5-15 with an official vitiligo diagnosis) and their parent or guardian. Applications are now being accepted, and parents can apply here by creating an account and selecting the registration type “Camp Victory.” Space is limited, but all attendees will receive access to all the scheduled Camp Victory programming along with accommodations at the Marriott Indianapolis North, plus up to $500 to cover transportation expenses. (Oh, and there will be goodie bags, too!)

At Camp Victory, kids living with vitiligo will get to spend two days learning, growing and having fun with other kids who understand what it’s like to grow up with vitiligo. They’re sure to go home with a new friend (or three!) and some core memories made. And that’s a victory indeed.

You can attend World Vitiligo Day-USA too

Planning to attend Camp Victory? Make it a long weekend and extend your stay to attend the World Vitiligo Day USA 2024 Conference Friday, June 21 to Sunday, June 23—all at the same location. The annual event includes medical research and treatment updates, panel discussions by leading dermatologists, vendors and social opportunities, as well as topical breakout sessions. Anyone with vitiligo in addition to families, friends and advocates are welcome to attend.

Registration is open now, with early bird discounts available. Learn more about this exciting three-day program for anyone with vitiligo here.
