Your Guide to World Vitiligo Day-USA 2024 in Indianapolis

The 2024 U.S. celebration of World Vitiligo Day—officially designated as June 25th—will take place June 21-23 in Indianapolis, Indiana. (See you there!)

Celebrated annually, World Vitiligo Day was established with the aim of promoting awareness of vitiligo, educating healthcare providers about its care and treatment, and fundraising for research efforts. Over time, this day has evolved into a worldwide phenomenon, dedicated to honoring individuals coping with the condition and shedding light on the challenges they endure, including bullying, social exclusion and psychological distress.

The USA annual event is celebrated as a multi-day conference that includes medical research and treatment updates, panel discussions by leading dermatologists, vendors and social opportunities, as well as topical breakout sessions. Registration is open now, with early bird discounts available. Here’s what you need to know about this year’s conference.

Event programming and schedule

With the theme “Boots on the Ground—Finding Your Pathway,” this year’s WVD-USA event celebrates the individuals living with vitiligo and empowers them to find their unique path to living with vitiligo. The conference schedule will include a full roster of presenters as well as a variety of support and social groups.

Attendees will receive updates from vitiligo organizations such as MyVitiligo Team, hear about the psychological impact of vitiligo from noted vitiligo advocate Tonja Johnson, and have a chance to “Ask a Doc” questions during a dermatologist-led panel discussion. Breakout sessions aimed at married couples, parents and those who are single or dating will explore what it’s like to live with vitiligo in each of these life stages.

The weekend includes fun and celebratory moments, too. A “Sneaker Ball” will follow the presentation of the 2023 Incyte Ingenuity Awards in Vitiligo (so bring your dancing shoes). The Incyte Ingenuity Awards in Vitiligo “aim to support the vitiligo community by funding two innovative initiatives that address challenges faced by patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers.” Two outstanding proposals will receive prizes: one up to $35,000 and one up to $100,000.

Registration and lodging

The 2024 conference will be held at the Marriott Indianapolis North in Indianapolis, Indiana. Registration is currently open and a group rate for conference attendees is available. The conference also offers a conference rate for those who stay at the Marriott. Registration for the conference and hotel reservations are now open.
